Financial Literacy

Youth Development Committee (YDC)

This committee is focused on implementing youth-based programs and partnerships in support of the mission of BPM. YDC strives to create programs and partnerships (including schools, businesses, professional/civic organizations, fraternity organizations, and the general public) that target, build, and promote the youth in our community. Partnering with organizations with shared values is an integral part of the future success stories that are written at BPM.

Overview

YDC is charged with the task to impact over 1,000 youth and engage about 200 students. The approach to impacting our targeted youth is to expose them to vital information that will sharp their future and experiences that will help them avoid life challenges that plague our community. Our school and community-based programs will be the core foundation for our strategy.

School Based Program

BPM is proud to announce a dynamic partnership with First Financial Security, Inc. (FFS) to offer financial literacy to youth in our community. BPM is targeting approximately 20 schools in the Baltimore metro area to participate in the financial literacy tour. This tour is intended to increase students’ knowledge base on financial literacy. This program serves as the rungs of a ladder in preparing students for their financial future. Also, the program caters specifically to students in grades 3-12. Each category is uniquely designed and tailored for each specific age group. The partnership is unique from the perspective that it allows this initiative to be presented by trained BPM members, many of whom are experts in the field of financial services and have a passion to improve the financial literacy and well-being of our youth.

How does it work

BPM will provide each school with the following options to participate in the tour:

Option 1:

One-time activity

BPM will provide a one-time activity from one to three hours on financial literacy for a class no larger than 30 students.

Option 2:

School Partnership

BPM will provide a series of visits to the school based on a preset schedule agreed upon by the school.
